In the Grand Final showdown that took place in the evening of 22 July 2008, Universitas Indonesia A (Dyota Marsudi, Wulan Fajarini, Dyah Ayunico Ramadhani) defeated Atma Jaya Yogyakarta B (Desideria Cempaka, Keinesasih Hapsari, Yosef Pramudito) and was crowned the Champion of JOVED 2008.

But for 6 students from Universitas Indonesia and Institut Teknologi Bandung, the thrill of the battle of words and wits lured them to Manila for the Australasian Intervarsity Debating Championships 2008.
